Acceptable Use Policy
Face Seek: AI Face Search, operated by Baan Software.
This policy is part of our Terms of Use. It sets out what you may and may not do with Face Seek. Breaking it can result in immediate suspension without refund, and in serious cases we will report the conduct to the relevant authorities.
What Face Seek is for
Face Seek exists to help people answer a narrow question: does this face appear elsewhere on the public web, and where?
Legitimate uses include:
- Checking whether a dating or marketplace profile photo has been taken from somewhere else
- Finding out where your own photo has been republished
- Identifying the source of an image you were sent
- Confirming that an account contacting you is not using a stolen picture
- Curiosity, such as finding a celebrity you resemble
Prohibited conduct
You must not use Face Seek to:
Harm or target a person
- Stalk, monitor, follow, harass, threaten, dox, or intimidate anyone
- Locate a person who has cut contact with you, including a former partner
- Build a dossier, timeline, or profile of any individual
- Reveal or publish someone's identity, workplace, home, or contacts without their consent
- Support any form of surveillance of a specific person
Target people who need protection
- Search for a minor, or submit any photo depicting a minor
- Target survivors of abuse, domestic violence, or trafficking
- Target journalists, activists, whistleblowers, witnesses, or protected persons
- Target people based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or political belief
Make regulated decisions
- Screen candidates, employees, tenants, borrowers, or insurance applicants
- Conduct due diligence for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance
- Use results in any way regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or an equivalent law
Misuse the service
- Submit a photo you have no lawful basis to submit
- Automate, scrape, bulk-query, or resell access
- Circumvent rate limits or paywalls
- Present Face Seek results as verified identification
- Use results as evidence of identity in any legal, financial, or official process
Break the law
- Any use that violates biometric privacy law, data protection law, anti-stalking law, or any other applicable law in your jurisdiction
Enforcement
We monitor for patterns consistent with abuse, such as high-volume automated queries and repeated searches from a single install.
Where we find a violation, we may:
- Warn you
- Rate-limit or suspend your access
- Terminate your access permanently, without refund
- Preserve and disclose relevant records to law enforcement where the law requires it or where there is a risk to someone's safety
Reporting misuse
If you believe Face Seek has been used against you, or you want to request removal of a record relating to you, contact faceseek@baansoftware.com. Include any information that helps us locate the activity. We respond within 30 days, and faster where there is an immediate safety concern.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
If you are being stalked or harassed
Face Seek is not a tool for finding people who do not want to be found, and we take reports seriously.
If someone is using image search to track you, email faceseek@baansoftware.com with the subject line “Opt-out request”. We will investigate, delete any stored records relating to you, and where we can identify the install responsible we will terminate its access.
Face Seek searches the public web through a third-party index. We can delete what we hold and cut off an abusive user, but we cannot remove your image from the wider web or from indexes we do not operate. If your photo is published somewhere you did not agree to, the fastest route is a removal request to the site hosting it and to the search engines that index it.
